Charleroi Area names top graduates
Commencement ceremonies for 122 graduates will be held Wednesday.
Charleroi Area High School will hold its 2026 commencement at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Charleroi Area High School amphitheater. In the event of inclement weather, it will be held in the high school gymnasium.
There are 122 graduates. Class of 2026 valedictorian is Ethan Signorini. Salutatorian is Chelsie Dzurinko. Class president is Camdyn Carson.
Ethan Timothy Signorini is the son of Timothy and Christine Signorini of Dunlevy.
He received the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award for outstanding academic achievement in science and math along with positive contributions to community and school, the Rensselaer Award for outstanding achievement in science and math, the Nicholas Brunetti Memorial Scholarship, Charleroi Area Education Foundation Academic Scholarship, Mary Rosick Crum Scholarship for Engineering, Jean Drop World Language Award (top student in Spanish), Ralph W. Young Family Foundation Scholarship, Lions Club Scholarship, and is a National Merit Commended Scholar.
At Charleroi Area High School, he was a member of the 2026 Executive Committee, National Honor Society, secretary of the Drafting Club, drafter for the BotsIQ team, member of REACH and the Academic League. He plays recreational basketball, does strength training and enjoys fishing and outdoor recreation.
Ethan plans to pursue a four-year degree in aerospace engineering at Penn State, University Park.
Chelsie Rae Dzurinko is the daughter of Michael and Kimberly Dzurinko of Charleroi.
She was named the Charthene Club Girl of the Month, Charthene Club Girl of the Year, Scholastic Art and Writing Gold Key Portfolio, Scholastic Art and Writing Silver Keys, Scholastic Art and Writing Honorable Mentions, Carol Claybaugh Star Memorial Award for Outstanding senior auxiliary member, academic honor roll highest honors, member of the National Honor Society, Scholastic Art and Writing American Visions nominee, Scholastic Art and Writing Gold Keys, received the Challenge Program STEM Award, was a member of the Penn State 4.0 Club, received the College Board Rural and Small Town Recognition Award, the Jean Drop World Language Award (top student in French).
At Charleroi Area High School, she was a marching band/color guard section leader, peer jury foreman, National Honor Society historian, member of the Art Club, stage crew, Foreign Language Club, Polygon Club, peer tutor, executive committee, and Washington County Teen Outreach. She enjoys tumbling and is a YMCA Lifeguard Chelsie plans to attend Florida State University to pursue a degree in criminology.
