Officer injured after crash involving police vehicle in McKeesport

County police said the officer in the truck was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital in stable condition.

A police vehicle was involved in a crash in McKeesport on Wednesday.

Allegheny County dispatchers said the crash happened at the intersection of 28th and Walnut streets about 5 p.m.

The Allegheny County Police Department Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to a request for assistance.

“The McKeesport police officer was injured in the collision and was taken to an area hospital. The officer is currently listed in stable condition. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured and remained on scene,” according to a statement by the county police. “Detectives are initiating the investigation. Preliminary information shows the McKeesport police officer was responding to a priority call when the officer’s vehicle collided with a utility van.”
