Golf tournament to support service dogs for veterans

The fourth annual golf tournament to support service dogs for veterans is set for May 16 at Quicksilver Golf Club, 2000 Quicksilver Rd., Midway.

Life Changing Service Dogs For Veterans (LCSDFV), a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit, will host the event to raise funds to provide trained service dogs at no cost to Veterans living with post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injuries, and other visible and invisible disabilities.

The tournament begins with a 7 a.m. checkin and an 8 a.m. tee time, featuring a four-person scramble format. Participation is $150 per golfer and includes breakfast and lunch. The event will also include hole-in-one contests, raffles, giveaways, and on-course prizes, offering both community engagement and meaningful impact.

As demand nationwide grows for Service Dogs that support mental health and independence, organizations like LCSDFV are expanding their efforts to meet the needs of veterans. The tournament reflects a broader trend in community-driven fundraising initiatives supporting veteran mental health and nonprofit growth across Western Pennsylvania.

“Every service dog we help place represents a measurable improvement in a Veteran’s quality of life, from increased independence to reduced anxiety and isolation,” said Bill Jeffcoat, president of Life Changing Service Dogs For Veterans. “This fundraising golf tournament for Veterans allows the community to play a direct role in making those outcomes possible.”

Proceeds from the event, after expenses, directly support LCSDFV’s mission to fund and facilitate the placement of highly trained Service Dogs through its partnership with Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, Inc. The organization has raised more than $1.9 million to date in support of this mission.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available at multiple levels, allowing businesses and individuals to support veterans while gaining visibility within the community.

Registration is open for golfers, and sponsorship inquiries. To register, sponsor, or learn more, visit www.padogsforvets.org, call 724-760-7760, or email info@padogsforvets. org.
