Teens arrested after allegedly throwing items from vehicles

A West Newton woman plans to press charges, saying they cracked her windshield.

Elizabeth Township Police Department apprehended several juveniles Tuesday who allegedly threw objects from moving vehicles.

A Facebook post stated that the department responded to multiple incidents involving the individuals over 48 hours, resulting in substantial property damage.

West Newton resident Dee Tuttle stated in a Facebook post that at around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, she was driving on Route 48 near Rock Run Road when teenagers in a red Hyundai car threw a bottle at her windshield, cracking it.

Tuttle told The Mon Valley Independent Tuesday that she was on her way home from work to pick up her son at school when the incident happened. She is looking to press charges and said the bill for the windshield was around $500.

“This kid needs to pay for the damage to my and anyone else’s car he caused,” Tuttle said. “I almost hit the vehicle in front of me when he did that because it startled me so bad I hit the gas instead of the brake.”

Police stated that they have apprehended and identified several suspects and vehicles potentially linked to these incidents.

Police Chief Ken Honick said he could not disclose any further information about the case due to the individuals involved being under age 18.
