Feedback sought in Monongahela

By TAYLOR BROWN, Senior Reporter

Two sessions are set for public input into a Community Impact Plan.

Monongahela residents will have an opportunity this month to help shape the city’s future through a series of public listening sessions tied to the development of the city’s Community Impact Plan.

The sessions, organized by the Leadership Development Initiative, are intended to gather public input on issues facing the city and help guide future projects and priorities. According to organizers, the Community Impact Plan is being developed to better understand what residents think about Monongahela today and what they hope to see in the future.

Two listening sessions are currently scheduled, with two additional sessions expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

The first session, focused on community identity, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Monongahela Area Library.

A second session, centered on education and youth, will be held virtually via Zoom from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Organizers said the sessions are designed to encourage open discussion and allow residents to share their ideas in a collaborative setting.

“These listening sessions are an opportunity for residents to directly influence the future of Monongahela,” they stated. “We want to hear what matters most to the people who live, work and care about this community.”

Because of the interactive format, attendance will be limited to 22 participants at each session. Organizers are encouraging residents to register in advance.

Residents who are unable to attend or who find the sessions already filled can still submit comments and ideas by emailing ldi33cip@gmail. com.

The Community Impact Plan is intended to reflect the priorities and concerns of Monongahela residents and help ensure future initiatives align with the community’s vision.

For more information, contact Abigail Stark, director of strategy and development for Mon Valley Alliance, at astark@ monvalleyalliance.org or the Leadership Development Initiative at ldi33cip@gmail.com.

To register, go to the Mon Valley Alliance Facebook page and scan the QR code for the session you plan to attend.
