William ‘Jiggs’ Gricar – Monongahela

William “Jiggs” Gricar, 66, of Monongahela, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, in Canonsburg Hospital. He was born April 29, 1957, in New Eagle, son of the late Robert Louis and Clara Yavoich Gricar. Jiggs was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Parish in Monessen. He was formerly employed at Meta Elkhorn Excavating, Lone Pine Construction Inc. and Merit Contracting Inc., and was currently employed at GEO Energy Tech Services. He was a lifetime member of Valley Inn Sportsman Club. Jiggs loved tractor pulling and operating heavy equipment. He is survived by his companion of 22 years, Darla Porter; three children, Frank Gricar and wife Lori, Maria Pappert and husband Robert, and Bernadette Bongyor and husband Lou, all of Monongahela; six grandchildren, Frankie Gricar, Dominick, Jordano and Stefano Marozza, and Giada and Aiden Bongyor; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Gricar and wife Diana of Charleroi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sanderine DiVitto Gricar. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023, with the Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela.
