Mary Elizabeth Patrick, 88, transitioned from this life to heaven on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023. She was born in Brownsville on May 29, 1935, to the late Jacob Woods and Ruth Mae Wheeler Woods. She was the eldest child of four siblings. Mary graduated from Brownsville High School. She also attended California University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in social work. Mary was a member of Orchard Christian Fellowship Church in Monessen. The Rev. John Custer Sr. was her pastor. She worked tirelessly in the communities, bringing culture and informative events to the public. She promoted gospel concerts and other community events: “I am obeying the call,” she would say to bring people together. She was also a member of the Washington County Democratic Committee, the coordinator for Mt. Sinai’s Bridging the Gap Program, the founder of Faith, Hope and Love Ministry, Women of Excellence and so many other boards of the tri-county. One of her greatest joys was reading scriptures for the King’s Kids Mime Ministry of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church of Charleroi. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Patrick; sister, Anna Mae Calloway; brother, Dock Lee Woods; and son, Raymond Maurice Crable. Mary leaves to cherish her memory one son, Kevin Crable of Minnesota; two daughters, Cheryl L. Crable of Missouri and The Rev. Renita L. Crable f PA (KaKa Diniz); granddaughter, Fatina L. Crable of Missouri; great-granddaughter, Aryanna Gaddy of Missouri; granddaughter, Natalie Pewewardy of Oklahoma; grandson, Anthony Pewewardy of Oklahoma; and two grandchildren in Wisconsin; one brother, Herman Woods of Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family and friends will be received at Orchard Christian Fellowship Church, 721 Schoonmaker Ave., Monessen, from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2023. The service begins at 11 a.m. Interment follows at Lafayette Memorial Park, 132 Twin Hills Road, Brier Hills, PA 15415. Arrangements entrusted to WILLIAM R.
