By obits

Paul DeBerardinis, 79, Donora, passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Oct. 22, 1943, in Monongahela, a son of the late Patsy and Ann Petrus DeBerardinis. Paul graduated from Mon Valley Catholic High School in 1961. Like his brothers, he excelled in basketball. Paul worked for U.S. Steel Corporation (Homestead) for almost 20 years, and the Donora Lumber Company for 15 years. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish and was an active member with the former Holy Name Society. In June of 1990, the Holy Name Society honored him as “Man of the Year” and his father, Patsy, as the “Father of the Year.” Paul loved the church, the Holy Name Society and along with his brothers volunteered for many projects to help them out. Paul and his brother, Dino, had a tree service business for many years. You would see them helping people all over the Valley. He was always there to lend a helping hand to his family and friends without even being asked. Paul had a heart of gold and was always there for everyone. Paul loved when his granddaughters, Sienna and Mila, came to visit. He gave them his undivided attention. He and Charlotte always had something special planned for them. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Francis DeBerardinis, with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage. Charlotte was the love of his life. His wife, children and grandchildren were his number one priority. Surviving to cherish his memory, in addition to his wife, are his children, Cara Pivovarnik (Brian) of Donora, and Christopher DeBerardinis (Brianna) of Glenshaw; two grandchildren, Sienna and Mila DeBerardinis; two brothers, Eugene (Kathleen) DeBerardinis of Cumming, Ga., and James DeBerardinis of Jasper, Ga.; five sisters, Josephine (David) Bentz of Whitehall, Joan Crosby of Monessen, Ann (Richard) Gaydos of Donora, Mary (Mark) Madeya of Bethel Park and Rita (Dwayne) Lambing of Kennesaw, Ga.; along with nine nephews; seven nieces; numerous cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Paul is also survived by a host of wonderful, caring friends and neighbors. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Patsy “Dino” DeBerardinis; and nephew, Brad DeBerardinis. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, where friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, in the funeral home with the Rev. Father Stephen Wahal officiating. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. A special thanks to Advantage Home Health and Hospice for the loving care and comfort that they provided Paul and his family. The family would also like to extend its heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Theresa Molesky. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, also thank you to Christina for her loving care and comfort. We truly cannot thank you enough for the kind and compassionate care that you gave Paul while helping to take care of him.
