of West Mifflin was related to a March 30 incident.

Allegheny County homicide detectives are investigating the death of a West Mifflin man in July that has been labeled a homicide.

William Daley Jr., 58, died July 12 in a hospital, according to information released Thursday by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The medical examiner ruled he died of respiratory fail- ure. Officials said his death was linked to an incident that occurred in West Mifflin on March 30 shortly after 10

p.m. in the 300 block of Utah Avenue.

West Mifflin Police Chief Gregory McCulloch told TribLive on Thursday his officers began investigating the March incident as a “possible assault.”

Once Daley died and the medical examiner determined it was a homicide, West Mif- flin handed the case over to county police, he said.

“Detectives were requested to take over this case and we are aware of the ruling by the medical examiner’s office,” Jim Madalinsky, a county police spokesman, said. “This remains an ongoing investigation.”

Neither police department provided details about the incident they suspect led to Daley’s death.
