Man hurt in fall from tree stand
A man was injured when he fell nearly 15 feet from a tree stand in Long Branch on Sunday evening.
Roscoe Volunteer Fire Company Chief Larry Pollock said they received a call around 5:15 p.m. for a man who had fallen from a tree stand at the Roscoe Sportsmen’s Association.
Pollock said crews from the fire department and Mon Valley EMS quickly arrived on scene.
Because of where the man fell, it was difficult to extract him from the wooded area.
Firefighters and EMS worked together using various equipment to remove him from the wood line.
He was safely transported to where STAT MedEvac was waiting to take him to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Pollock said while the man was injured, he was stable at the time of transport.
“He was stable, but because of the extended period of time it took for us to get to him and get him out of there, he needed further evaluation,” Pollock said.
Pollock said the man was alone at the time of the fall, and the cause of the accident has not been determined.
Firefighters said it was a challenging incident, but are grateful for help from assisting agencies.
“Teamwork between agencies is essential in situations like this, and we are grateful for the collaboration that ensures our community receives the highest level of care,” Pollock said.
“We are keeping the individual involved in our thoughts, and we wish them a speedy and full recovery.”
Crews were on scene for about an hour and a half before they returned to service.
