Donora legend ‘Bimbo’ Cecconi dies at 95

The Mon Valley lost one of its greatest legends Monday as Lou “Bimbo” Cecconi died at the age of 95. His death ended not only a long, rich and productive life, but also closing the chapter on one of Donora’s greatest periods of sports domination. The WPIAL website called him “a man for all seasons.” At Donora High, he was a winner of 11 letters in football, basketball, baseball and track. There were only 12 letters a student-athlete could achieve.
