Havencrest treats kids to free back-to-school bash

Kids were treated to free school supplies, haircuts and food.

For the MVI

Havencrest Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Carroll Township recently hosted a back-to-school bash for children and families throughout the Mon Valley and surrounding communities, providing school supplies, book bags, hair cuts, food, music and plenty of smiles to nearly 75 local children.

The event brought together local businesses, community members, organizations, and Havencrest staff with one shared goal: helping local children get ready for the upcoming school year while creating a fun and memorable experience for families in the community.

Havencrest would like to extend a special thank you to LA Fades barber Jay “Skram,” Great Clips stylists, OSPTA for helping provide hot dogs for the event, as well as Brandon “Rooster” Jodon for providing music and entertainment throughout the day.

The event organizers thanked the following donors: Rena Alford of Donora; Walter Ellis of Charleroi; Ashley Hannan of Monessen Italian Village; Dettores; Eat’n Park; Sheetz; McDonalds; Wendy’s; The Pizza Station; Sunrise Perks; Little City Coffee; Amanda Pozzi, tattoo artist at Abstract Tattoo; Hoods Up Quick Lube; Stella & Sky Salon; Sweets by Mrs. C; Jim’s Backflow & Services; Roscoe’s Sportsman Association; and Foodland.

Havencrest also extended its gratitude to its staff and everyone who donated their time, money, supplies, services, or talents to make the event possible.

“With nearly 75 children served, the back-to-school bash was a beautiful reminder of the generosity and strength of the Mon Valley community,” organizers stated. “Every backpack, school supply, haircut, meal, donation, and helping hand helped make a difference for a local child. Most importantly, the event gave children the opportunity to begin the school year with something they need — and a whole lot of smiles.”
