Sgt. Herbert Elias Lippincott – Jefferson Hills

By Jeremy Sellew

Sgt. Herbert Elias Lippincott, 56, of Jefferson Hills, Pa., entered into God’s Heavenly Kingdom, Monday, July 3, 2023. He was born Dec. 12, 1966, at Spangdahlem Air Force Base in Bitburg, Germany. He was the son of the late T.Sgt.Herbert H. and Margaret A. (Grogan) Lippincott. He was a member of Union Baptist Church in Monessen, Pa., where he was a former member of the trustee board. Herbert, also affectionately known as “Herb,” “Herby” and the infamous “Red Shoes” or “Shoes,” was a 1985 graduate of Monessen High School, where he performed well academically, played the tuba in the band and excelled in sports, especially football and baseball. He was branded with the name “Red Shoes” because red was his favorite color and he just had to wear red cleats while playing sports! Herb’s “Red Shoes” traveled with him to Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania on a partial football scholarship, majoring in business management. In 1987, Herb enlisted in the United States Army Reserve, training as an electrical power line and logistics specialist. In 2010, he graduated with honors, second in his class, from Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, as a biomedical equipment technician. Before retiring from the U.S. Army after 20 years, Sgt. First Class Herbert E. Lippincott would be deployed to Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo. During Herb’s career as a biomedical specialist, he furthered his education and training, acquiring 10 additional bio-med certifications. He was most thankful and proud to be a part of the team that installed and equipped the new operating rooms at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville, Pa. Herb was currently employed by Allegheny Health Network. He was the adjutant with American Legion Post 212 in Donora, Pa. In addition to his achievements, Herb will be remembered as an avid fisherman, golfer, pool player, dart player and most of all, “Grill Master!” Herb loved to cook and would grill in any kind of weather. Herb’s exuberant, charming, witty personality, his sense of humor, his smile that could light up your heart, is why everyone wanted to be in his company. Yes, Herby truly had a “zest for life!” In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by his brother, Harry S. Lippincott. Herb leaves to cherish his memory, his high school sweetheart, loving and devoted wife, Denise Zdravecky Lippincott, whom he would have been married to 19 years on July 24, 2023; their children, Elishia, Eliah and Elias Lippincott; his daughters, Lauren and Janae Evans, Taylor Kovacs and Falesha Sapko; sons, Tyler Wickerham and Kaelen Koontz; his loving sister, Mia J. Lippincott; sisters-in-law, Debra (Keith) Everly, Pamela (Jeffrey) Usher and Lisa (Richard) Yazwa; brothers-in-law, Ralph Zdravecky and Joseph Zdravecky; his goddaughter/niece, Mia M. Lippincott; brother in Christ, Jehmal Jordan; devoted friends/cousins, Michael Grogan, Brett Lepresti, Dale Simpson, Charles Nangle and Larry Aldrich; 10 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and a WORLD FULL of friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2023 with a 10 a.m  final viewing and 11 a.m. service followed by military honors. Arrangements, visitation and service will be held at, and have been entrusted to, STEPHEN D. SLATER FUNERAL HOME, 1701 State Route 51, Jefferson Hills, PA 15025 (412-384-0350). Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. Remembrances and condolences can be made on Herb’s tribute wall at www.stephendslater.com.
