Patricia Louise Semancik Troeger, 81, of Guatemala City, formerly of Belle Ver-non, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022. Born June 21, 1940, in Belle Vernon, she was the daughter of the late Michael P. and Julia Semancik. She was a graduate of Bellmar High School and a former member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. “Patty,” as her closest friends and family fondly called her, had an adventurous spirit. As a young graduate, she lived in Washington D.C., Los Angeles and finally settled in Guatemala City, where she worked for the U.S. Embassy. She was a well-read woman who fluently spoke three languages. She taught English and business classes to Spanish-speaking students. Throughout her life, Patty enjoyed traveling the world, visiting friends and family wherever she went. During her time at the American Embassy, Patty met the love of her life, Siegfried Troeger, who was originally from Germany. They married on Oct. 10, 1970, at St. Sebastian Church, Belle Vernon. Together, the couple built a successful industrial company alongside their sons. Family and faith were of utmost importance to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Siegfried Troeger, on July 1, 2021. She is survived by her sons, Thomas and Steffen and grandson, Mathias Troeger, of Guatemala; sister, Maryann and Wayne Davis of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister-in-law, Cindy Sebrosky Semancik of Canonsburg; nieces, Elyse Davis of Los Angeles, Calif., Amy Semancik Diaz of Suwanee, Ga., Allison Semancik (Ian Tacher) of Miami, Fla., and Rachel Semancik of Duluth, Ga.; and nephews, Joshua Kritzer and Tobin Davis of Los Angeles, Calif., and Michael Semancik of Belle Vernon. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael and Robert. A funeral was held Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, in Guatemala City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Cancer Research Institute.
