The Ringgold School District officially welcomed its new assistant superintendent Wednesday.

At their public meeting, school directors approved the hiring of Dr. Cathy Taschner to the position, solidifying her spot in the administration for the next five years.

Although she’s been helping the district since the summer, her contract will officially begin Dec. 1 and end Nov. 30, 2025.

“I’ve been here, it’s hard to believe, for seven months now and I’ve fallen in love with the district,” Taschner said. “It’s a special place with a very forward-thinking school board.”

Hailing from the Morgantown, W.Va., area, Taschner went to the eastern part of Pennsylvania for her schooling.

She earned an undergraduate degree from Messiah University, her first master’s degree from Westchester University and a second master’s degree and doctorate from Immaculata University.

Her past experience in education includes being a teacher, assistant principal and principal in the Twin Valley, Oxford Area Susquehanna Township and Coatesville Area school districts.

“Our country is dependent on the work we do every day in public schools,” Taschner said. “We’re building the doctors, the scientists and the lawyers of the future. It’s a joy to work with the foundation — the Class of 2033. There’s a pride that comes out of that.”
