Mary Ann Rocco – New Eagle, formerly of Monongahela
Mary Ann Rocco, 86, of New Eagle, formerly of Monongahela, died after a prolonged illness on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born April 7, 1933, in New Eagle, a daughter of Theodore E. and Mary Cola Freycenet. Mary Ann was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish in Monongahela where she was formerly a member of its Altar Rosary Christian Mothers, a former Eucharistic minister, and participated in many other church activities. Along with her family, Mary Ann was very instrumental in operating the family business that had been in Monongahela for 100 years, Rocco and Son Florist. In addition to working at the flower shop, she was very family oriented as well as being a wonderful cook. Mary Ann was a devoted wife and a very dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who was very proud of everyone in her family. She is survived by her husband, John A. “Jack” Rocco, with whom she celebrated 66 years of marriage on June 6, 2019; four children, Jack Rocco Jr. and wife Mary Ann of Charleroi, Karen Flores of Guam, Bart Rocco, Ed.D. and wife Valerie of Elizabeth, and Maria Rocco of Holiday, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Aimee DeSantis and husband Anthony, Derek Rocco and wife Mary Rae, Kristyn Ramos and husband Rob, Philip Rocco, Ph.D., Christopher Rocco, Brisas Flores, M.D., Mia Lowe, and Rocco Flores; eight great-grandchildren, Gianna, Sofia, Tessa, Samuel, Santino, Violet, Vincent and Giuliana; sister, Darlene Harsh and husband Joseph of Elizabeth; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Theodore Freycenet Jr.; and sister, Elaine Edie. The Rocco family would like to thank all the caregivers and staff from Diversified Human Services, Vitas Hospice and Dr. Joseph Michael. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2019, at St. Damien of Molokai Church. Committal services and interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery.
