Serra Catholic scored two early runs before allowing three in the opening three innings of Friday’s PIAA Class 2A championship game.

The Eagles had no answer after that, suffering a 3-2 loss at the hands of Devon Prep at Penn State University’s Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

The runner-up finish is Serra’s third in four state final appearances since 2009.

“I’m proud of them. We came a lot further than anybody thought we were going to,” Serra Catholic head coach Brian Dzurenda said. “There is no shame in losing to Devon Prep, and that is exactly what I just told them.”
