Elizabeth Township home damaged by fire
The residents weren’t home at the time of the blaze, but a dog died of smoke inhalation.
A house fire occurred Tuesday morning in the Blythedale section of Elizabeth Township.
Elizabeth Township Fire Department was dispatched before 9:30 a.m. to 1840 Roy St. near the Sutersville Bridge.
Chief Adam Janosko said the residents, who are McKeesport Area School District gym teachers, were not home during the fire. However, a dog in the residence died due to smoke inhalation.
The fire was under control within a hour, and units cleared the scene within two hours. Elizabeth Township Police Department units arrived first and confirmed smoke from the dwelling.
“The house should be repairable, but the living room area was damaged pretty good,” Janosko said.
Units established a water supply and began suppression operations. Command requested a second alarm for additional manpower, and they had about 13 mutual aid partners on the scene.
A GoFundme page that was set up for the couple who live at the house raised $6,585 as of press time Tuesday. It can be found at https:// www.gofundme.com/f/help-jordanmakayla- rebuild-after-house-fire. The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating.
