MMVTA forced to remove Gabe’s bus stop

A popular bus route in Rostraver Township is about to be discontinued.

According to the Mid-Mon Valley Transit Authority, bus stop No. 300 at Gabe’s, located at 158 Finley Road, will be discontinued starting Aug. 16 at the request of the property owners, Red Tail Acquisitions of Irvine, Calif.

RTA is a private real estate investment firm that owns and leases commercial and retail properties across the united states.

The bus stop was installed at Gabe’s in Rostraver Township about three years ago under an agreement between RTA and the MMVTA.

MMVTA Executive Director Ashley Seman said the working relationship was good, but the company recently informed MMVTA that it had decided to discontinue the bus stop on its property.

The last day to use that location will be Aug. 15, a day before signage is removed.

Though the bus stop has only been in use for a few years, it was popular among riders.

Seman cited data from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, showing there were 3,484 people who boarded an MMVTA bus there.

More people got off at the stop, boosting businesses in the plaza. In the past year, 4,818 people got off an MMVTA bus at that stop.

Seman is reworking bus routes and schedules to accommodate the change.

It will affect five routes total: 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

The MMVTA is planning to revert to the routes previously used before that bus stop was installed. Seman said some modifications will have to be made to accommodate route times.

Riders should keep up to date by following MMVTA on Facebook or checking online for news, announcements, schedules and changes.

When asked why a request was made for the stop be removed, a spokesperson for RTA declined to provide an explanation.
