Mother charged after child found hanging out apartment window
Police got the 3-year-old to go back inside.
A Donora woman has been charged after her 3-year-old child was recently found hanging out of the window of an apartment building.
Flonise Dorce, 33, of McKean Avenue is charged with a single felony count of endangering the welfare of children.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, Donora police were called to a home in the 500 block of McKean Avenue around 6 p.m. July 17 for a report of a child hanging out of a window.
When police arrived, they saw a small child on the outside of a window of a three-story-building.
Officer David Doroshkevich began yelling for the child to go inside. Eventually the child did climb back into the apartment, but was still holding on to the outside of the window, an affidavit states.
Doroshkevich met with another tenant, who took him to the apartment where the child was.
He spoke with a 16-year-old juvenile to inform her why he was there, which was interpreted by a neighbor because of a language barrier.
The tenant said there was a similar incident at 5 p.m. when he saw the toddler outside of the window near the edge of the roof, an affidavit states.
The tenant told police he started to scream and put his arms outside of the window, but was unable to reach the child.
Eventually the toddler’s mother, identified as Dorce, heard the screams and retrieved the child from the roof.
The tenant told police the child has been outside the window three times.
A preliminary hearing has not been set.
