George ‘Lipp’ Apessos – Freedom, Pa., formerly of Carroll Township

FREEDOM, PA., FORMERLY OF CARROLL TOWNSHIP George “Lipp” Apessos was carried peacefully into his eternal rest on July 16, 2025, sur rounded — as he always was in this life and the next — by his beloved wife of 64 years, Cora Bane Loffer Apessos, and their devoted children. Born on April 2, 1939, in Monessen, George was the third son of George and Angelina Apessos. A proud graduate of Monessen High School, Class of 1957, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army National Guard and earned a drafting degree from Penn State University. He dedicated most of his career to civil engineering, where his skill and precision helped shape countless projects. But George’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He never missed a game, recital, meet, or milestone. Whether coaching from the sidelines or cheering in the stands, he showed up—always. Known for his readiness to fix, build, or lend a helping hand, he was the steady presence that held many lives together. If you needed the right tool — or the right words — he was there. Golf was one of his great pleasures, especially Thursday evenings with the Donora Elks golf league or anytime the opportunity arose. Quick-witted, endlessly patient, and deeply kind, George met life with quiet strength and unwavering love. He never complained. He simply showed up — with humor, humility, and heart. Left to carry forward his legacy are his wife, Cora; their children, Chris Apessos, Rhonda Apessos, Craig Apessos and Amy (Bob) Lally; grandchildren, Dylan (Lauren) Apessos, Jon Apessos, Zachary Apessos, Raigan Apessos, Corinne Bringe, Ella Bringe, Megan (Mike) Hermes, Nicole Lally and Natalie Lally; and great-grandsons, Nolan and Mason Hermes. He is also survived by his brother, Nick (Patti) Senich and many loving nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, John “Yunny” Apessos, Pete Apessos and Mary (Tom) Fletcher. A celebration
