G-Force boxers drop narrow split decisions
Mason Yeschenko lost in the 176-pound Sub-Novice championship bout.
G-Force Boxing took two difficult losses on split decisions in Friday’s Pennsylvania Golden Gloves Tournament.
G-Force’s Mason Yeschenko dropped the 176-pound Sub-Novice class championship fight to David Fiello of Ellwood City after winning the first two rounds but running out of gas in the third. Dragan Radusewicz lost a preliminary bout to Jacob Zasowski of Indiana, Pa., in the 176-pound Elite class.
“Mason was winning the fight handily, but he got tired in the third round,” G-Force director and head trainer George Galis said. “It still was a split decision, so that tells you how well he did. Dragan, he just wasn’t himself that night, but he fought well enough to keep it close. (Zasowski) fought well, and he had some talent and experience to win a split decision. We’re going to look for a rematch with (Zasowski) in the future, because I think Dragan will beat him.”
Charleroi’s Nick Majors and Belle Vernon’s Xoren
Yeschenko
Radusewicz will fight in the tourn ament in either March or April. Majors, who is 11 years old, will compete in the Junior division, while Xoren will fight in the 132-pound Elite division against Jose Perez of New Castle.
“We’re expecting Xoren’s fight to be really tough,” Galis said. “But he’s in good shape, and I’m confident in his abilities. We’re also looking forward to having Nick fight because he’s been working hard.”
Both Radusewicz brothers fought up in the Elite division because there wasn’t an opponent for them in Novice class, which is supposed to be for fighters with 10 fights or fewer.
Yeschenko was in the Sub-Novice class, which correlates with having zero to three fights.
