Almondie Dorothy Rawls – Donora

By obits

Almondie Dorothy Rawls, 44, of Donora, was taken away from us far too soon on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. Dee Dee, as she was affectionately called, was born on Dec. 20, 1978, to Lewis and Patricia Rawls in Monroe, Mich. Dee Dee was a graduate of Charleroi Area High School in 1995. She loved baseball and softball and was very good at both. Her love also included music as well as her fashion in clothes, the color green and frogs. Dee Dee was very creative in crafts and arts. She especially loved hot rod cars and being out in nature. Dee Dee was the mother of one son, Darius Rawls, whom she loved with all her heart and lost him too soon unexpectedly. She had a smile that was contagious and a personality that was endearing. In addition to her parents, she leaves to cherish her memory three sisters, Patrice Love, Fantina Rawls (her twin) and Cappi Rawls; eight aunts, three uncles and numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews, a great nephew and a host of cousins and friends. Dee Dee loved her family and spent quality time with all during family gatherings. Dee Dee worked several jobs throughout her life, but finally found her passion in helping others as a direct care aide with Answer Prayer Services. In addition to the passing of her son, Dee Dee was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lewis and Dorothy Rawls and Lofter and Ivenia O’Neal; one brother, Garnett Gallmore; and uncles, James Smith and Michael Rawls. A memorial service will be held in the memory of this beautiful soul from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 20 Brushton Lane, Charleroi, following a eulogy service with the Rev. Jack Howell. A dove release service will be held following the eulogy. Services have been entrusted to William R. Taylor Funeral Home, 645 McMahon Ave., Monessen, PA 15062, 724-684-4877, Trudy L. Taylor, director in charge.
