Mary C. Gelli – Monessen

Mary C. Gelli, 96, of Monessen, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, in Hallsworth House with her loving family by her side. She was born on Nov. 7, 1926, in Monessen, the daughter of the late Matthew and Tekla Bauka Turpack. She was a member of Epiphany of our Lord Church and its Epiphany Ladies. She was an active member of the parish, having helped with funeral luncheons, festivals and all church activities. She was also an avid card player. She worked for 19 years at Hills Department Store in Rostraver Township. Surviving are her two sons, James Gelli of Monessen and John (Linda) Gelli of Cheswick, Pa.; five granddaughters, Michelle (Joseph) Ruiz, Christine Gelli, Lauren (Christopher) Palmieri, Liza (Douglas) Runyan and Karen (Kenn) Shoop; five great-grandchildren; three nieces, Mary Stephanie (Peter) Marella, Norma Solstad and Wendy Lane; and two nephews, Harry Turpack and Steven Turpack. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Julio “Primo” Gelli; two brothers, Harry and Steve Turpack; and a niece, Joan Beck Bitonti. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2023, at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen. Services will be held at the funeral home Saturday, May 27, 2023, beginning with a blessing service at 9:30 a.m. and followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Epiphany of our Lord Church with Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen. Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
