Jennie Roberts, 85, of Fairhope, Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 12, 2023. A daughter of the late James and Emma Getchell McGowan, she was born in Fayette City on June 22, 1937. A lifelong resident of Fairhope, Jennie was a member of First Christian Church in Fayette City, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, a superintendent of the primary department and had been an active member of the church choir for many years. Over the years, Jennie cleaned for several families. She loved cooking and baking, especially cheesecake, pumpkin cookies and lemon squares. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Tracie Roberts of Rostraver Township; two sisters, Lee Dizenzo of Houston, Texas, and Darlene (Richard) Angelo of Perryopolis; a daughter-in-law, Connie Roberts of Belle Vernon; five grandchildren, Chelsea Ross, Casey Roberts, Preston Williams, Seth Roberts and Autumn Roberts; and two great-grandchildren, Blaine Roberts and Silas Ross. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas A. Roberts, on Oct. 16, 2005; a daughter, Pamela K. Williams, on March 19, 2018; a son, Brian Roberts, on Nov. 7, 2018; two sisters, Kathryn Angelo and Emma Jean McGowan; and two brothers, James McGowan and William McGowan. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor David Watson of First Christian Church of Fayette City and Pastor Wayne Boring co-officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
