Thelma E. DiFrancesco Bartolini, 97, of New Eagle, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023. Born Dec. 27, 1925, in West Aliquippa, she was the daughter of the late Florindo and Mary Paolini DiFrancesco. Thelma graduated from Clairton High School and earned her registered nursing degree from West Penn Hospital. She was employed at Monongahela Hospital in the nursery. A member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela, she was involved in several church activities including the choir, money counter and a baker for various events. Family was extremely important to Thelma. She loved hosting family members and friends, and cooking for a crowd was never a problem. Thelma was a fan of all of the Pittsburgh sports teams, loved her Friday night card club, and enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Ferruccio “Fritz” Bartolini on Aug. 14, 1978; daughter, Mary Ann Ghilani on Jan. 8, 2012; and grandson, Bryan Perego on May 19, 2022; as well as brothers, Joseph and Arthur DiFrancesco; and sister, Vera Williams. She was survived by her son, David (Kathy) Bartolini of Baltimore; daughters, Cathy Perego of New Eagle, Jeanne (Richard) Carbone of Donora, Carol (Willie) Manteris of Wexford, Anne Marie (Tim) Kelly of Uniontown and Patty (David) Forsyth of Canonsburg; son-in-law, Rick Ghilani of Monongahela; her grandchildren, Kari Anne Carbone, Tom Carbone, Michael (Kristy) Manteris, Nikki (Trey) Manteris, Greg (Megan) Ghilani, Gina (Jim) Brandemarte, Kevin Forsyth, Ellen (Mardy) Shualy, Jill (Andrew) Kelley and Tim (Kirsten) Bartolini; as well as 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Norma Milas and Rose Sakas; sister-in-law, Linda DiFrancesco; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family is especially grateful to Dr. Joseph Michael and staff, and Thelma’s caregivers Trudy Taylor and Amber Crawford. Friends will be received at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023. Friends and family are asked to go directly to St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, 722 W. Main St., Monongahela, for a Mass of Christian Burial that will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, 722 W. Main St., Monongahela, PA 15063, or a charity of your choice.
