Teen to stand trial on homicide charge

The 16-year-old charged with homicide in connection with the shooting death of 16-year-old Amari Altomore was ordered to stand trial after a preliminary hearing Tuesday. Terry Newton was charged with the crime 15 days after Altomore’s death and didn’t turn himself in until Dec. 21. During two searches of the Monessen home where Altomore was shot Nov. 29, eight cell phones were found but only detectives could only retrieve data from Altomore’s phone, according to preliminary hearing testimony Tuesday.
