Ruth Edna Johnson, 89, of Washington, Pa., transitioned from this life to be with the Lord on July 23, 2022. Born on April 14, 1933, in Finleyville, she was the daughter of the late George Henry Sr. and Juanita Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Edward, James and Robert Johnson; one sister, Nellie Mae Jackson; grandmother, Nellie Landren; and an aunt, Harriet Landren and a devoted friend and neighbor the late Nancy Kelly. Ruth was employed for many years by the Bastacky family to teach and care for their two children, Sheldon and David, whom she loved dearly. Over time, she became part of their family, and they became a part of her family. Ruth was a member of the former Ebenezer Baptist Church of Monongahela, for many years, and she sang in the choir. Ruth leaves to cherish her loving memory, one sister, Betty Jane Patterson of Pittsburgh; extended families, Dr. Sheldon (Louise) Bastacky and daughters, Melissa and Michele, of Monroeville; Dr. David (Debbie) Bastacky and their son, Michael and daughter, Sarah, of Columbia, Md.; a special nephew, Edward “Butch” Johnson of Washington, Pa.; a special niece, Sandra Davis of Monessen; and eight nieces, 11 nephews; a devoted friend and neighbor, Bill Kelly of Washington, Pa.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
