Leona Lauffer DiToppa, 95, of McKeesport, passed away peacefully at Redstone Highlands, North Huntingdon, on April 16, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, August DiToppa; and her mother, Mary Kuznik. She is survived by her three sons, Dr. Louis A. (Joyce) DiToppa of North Huntingdon, David A. DiToppa of Bethel Park and Paul A. (Marti) DiToppa of North Huntingdon. She was the proud grandmother of three granddaughters, Paige, Martina and Maria DiToppa. Leona graduated from Penn Township High School in 1945. She then entered McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing as an Army cadet and graduated in 1948. Due to World War II ending, she did not have to enter active military duty. She then started her lifelong career in nursing at McKeesport Hospital. During her 40-year tenure, she began in the operating room/central supply, medical/surgical floor and ended her career as one of the first utilization/case management nurses at McKeesport Hospital. When her sons were in high school, she was very active with the McKeesport High Band Parents. During her years of retirement, she was active with Lifespan Senior Group.  She also was an active member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, St Patrick Church. Visitation was from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at JAYCOX-JAWORSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will follow in McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com.
