Firefighters battle brush fires in Rostraver, White Oak

Rostraver Township Fire Department units were on the scene of multiple brush fires in the township Sunday. Crews extinguished a fire that spread to a wooded area near the 4900 block of Route 51 South and along the roadway in the 1200 block of Fells Church Road. No injuries were reported, according to a fire department Facebook post, and the department asked area residents to be mindful of weather conditions and township ordinances when open burning.

A brush fire also occurred at 2745 Lincoln Way in White Oak Sunday evening. White Oak Volunteer Fire Department and Rainbow Volunteer Fire Company were called to the large brush fire off Lincoln Way Sunday afternoon. Several area fire departments assisted at the large fire involving about seven acres. Personnel operated on scene for about five hours.
