John T. Stewart, 80, of New Eagle, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022, in Premier Health Center, Washington, Pa. He was born in Monongahela on July 24, 1941, son of the late Freda Stewart Pritchard. John worked for many years as a mechanic and was commonly known as “Big John.” He started his career as a mechanic in the mid-1960s at Village Mercury, then moved to Monongahela Ford and Dan Jones Lincoln Mercury. He enjoyed bass fishing at the camp in Driftwood, Pa., and he was a huge fan of flea markets with friends. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Esther Holiday Stewart, whom he married Dec. 21, 1963; two sons, John (wife, Lisa Stewart) of Finleyville and Ryan Stewart (Kelly) of Monongahela; his two grandsons, Ryan and Dalton Stewart of Monongahela; and his two sisters, Linda Stewart Kisner and LuAnn Pritchard McGill, both of Monongahela.
