Samuel F. McGowan, 74, of Naomi, Fayette City, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022, in his residence. He was born Nov. 17, 1947, in McKees- port, son of Pearl McGowan. Sam was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen plant, and the Washington Township road crew. He was a member of First Christian Church, Fayette City, and the Naomi Athletic Club. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Harriett Kennedy McGowan; son, Mac Samuel McGowan and wife Jessica; daughter, Mary Anne Wichterman and husband Christopher; brother, Anthony Daniels and wife Francine; grandson, Jaxon Wichterman; grandson, Caden Wichterman; granddaughter, Ruby McGowan; granddaughter, Dena McGowan; grandson, Travis Smith; niece, Mandy Daniels Davis; and nephew, Christopher Daniels. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl McGowan. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at ELEY-MCCRORY FUNERAL HOME, Fayette City, www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022, in the funeral home with the Rev. Wayne Boring officiating.
