Bernice Ruth Penn, 76, of Homestead, went home to be with the Lord on Tues-day, Oct. 19, 2021, surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born on Jan. 11, 1945, in Braddock to the late Ruth Bernice Penn and Joseph Brown and stepfather Raymond Penn. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Abdullah and Raymond Penn Jr.; one sister, Francine Simms; and one nephew, Quan Penn. Bernice was a dedicated member of Second Baptist Church of Homestead. She loved her church and church family. Bernice was a dedicated domestic cleaner for many years. Bernice raised her children to be very respectful young women and loved her grandchildren dearly. She had a heart of gold and a joyful laugh and smile. She leaves to cherish her loving memory three daughters, Delphi and husband John Ferguson of Pittsburgh, April Penn of Homestead and Danyel Thomas-Butler and husband Corey of Covington, Ga.; one brother; William Lee of Youngstown, Ohio; one sister, Catherine Penn of Baldwin; three grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Bernice was loved and will be sadly missed. Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, at Second Baptist Church, 108 West 12th Ave., Homestead, PA 15120, where the funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Final celebrations are entrusted to MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, PA. 15063, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com.
