Mike R. Petix – Charleroi

Private services were held for Mike R. Petix, 95, of Charleroi, who passed away on Thursday, Aug. 26. 2021. Born on Nov. 11, 1925, he was the son of the late Angelo and Lena Petix. He joined the Army during his senior year of high school and shortly thereafter was called into service. He was a member of the Army’s Eighth Air Force, where he was a part of 16 bombing missions over Germany during World War II. After his military service he returned to Charleroi, where he worked at Corning Glass and then at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport, before retiring. He was a founding member of the 10th Street Athletic Club of Charleroi, the Italian American Society of Washington County, and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his buddies at their camp in Elk County. Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy Petix; daughter, Michele Petix of Speers; brother, Joseph Petix of Charleroi; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Anna Petix, Sue Hassick, Josephine Biasini, Margaret Calzacorto and Elsie Parry. Private services with military honors were at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION, Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director. The family would like to thank the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their care, notably, Judy, Cindy, Terah, Sonny and Pastor Larry.
