Mildred ‘Sis’ Maisano Bethem – Monongahela

Mildred “Sis” Maisano Bethem, 93, of Monongahela, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021. Born May 14, 1928, in Monessen, she was the daughter of the late John and Louise Dominic Maisano. A resident of Belle Vernon for most of her married life, Sis was retired from Center One Video, Monessen. Her devotion was to her husband, Ron, who passed in 2009, and her family and friends, whom she loved to entertain with an overabundance of food. Her love of dancing, music and exercising at the Mon Valley YMCA for 17 years kept her young. Sis was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church for 58 years. Sis is survived by her son, Ron Bethem and wife Dayna; daughter, Peggy Herforth and husband Patrick; sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and James Johnston; sisters-in-law, Ann Maisano and Connie Bethem; grandchildren, Jill and Jim Urban, Ivy and Christian Godoy, Alder Herforth, Lee Bethem and Aaron Uchlevich, Jacob Bethem, Kerrie and Jason Mirabella; great-grandchildren, Tim and Catie Urban, Kael and Willow Herforth and Sioux Marchisio; best and devoted friends Elaine Smith and Eleanor Duwall; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Sciacca, Margaret Perry, Michael Maisano, Eugene Maisano, Lena Maisano, Virginia Maisano and Anthony Maisano. Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Prayers of transfer will be held Friday, Aug. 20, at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in memory of Mildred Bethem to Mon Valley YMCA, 101 Taylor Run Road, Monongahela, PA 15063.
