Donna J. VanVoorhis – Canonsburg

By obits

Donna J. VanVoorhis, 73, of Canonsburg, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021, at Havencrest nursing center after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Donna was born Aug. 26, 1947, the only child of William R. and Donna L. Yesensky, who preceded her in death. Donna is survived by her two loving daughters, Louann VanVoorhis Beck of Irwin, and Jenny L. VanVoorhis of Canonsburg. Donna’s daughters always came first in her life and now she will be their guardian angel in heaven. As her daughters, we take comfort in our countless beautiful, happy memories and also in knowing she is free from pain. True to her independent spirit, she fought her illness “her way.” She retired from Masterworks Sternbergers, where she worked in the wall coverings and window treatment departments. Donna was an exceptionally strong, fiercely independent woman until her very last day. She loved animals, true crime documentaries, movies, “The Sopranos,” and shopping on QVC. Her favorite pastime was playing video poker at the Meadowlands Racetrack and Casino. She was an avid hockey fan and never missed watching the Pittsburgh Penguins. Sidney Crosby was her all-time favorite player. In addition to her daughters, Donna is survived by her Las Vegas buddy, Aunt Joyce; special cousin, Roger; and three very special friends, Ben, Dennis and Ed. Per Donna’s request, all services were held privately. Arrangements were entrusted to SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC. Online condolence may be sent to the family at www.schrock-hogan.com.
