Ronald J. Furio – Monessen

Ronald J. Furio, 96, of Monessen, died on June 15, 2021, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born in Monessen on July 7, 1924, to Eduardo and Matilda Caruso Furio. Ron was a graduate of Monessen High School and was a steelworker for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel plant in Monessen. Ron was an avid hunter and was a member of a hunting lodge with many friends. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 77 years, Catherine Zattiero Furio; two daughters, Bernadette Joseph of State College and Kathleen McGrew of Houston, Pa.; son, Ronald Furio of Land O’ Lakes, Fla.; three grandsons, John (Bethany) Joseph, Brian (Megan) Joseph and Jamey Furio; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Joseph; and two great-grandsons, Peter Luke Joseph and Alexander Furio. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Romeo Furio and Dr. Henry Furio. Private funeral services were held this morning at ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen, with the Rev. Robert Holmes delivering the eulogy. Entombment followed in Mon Valley Memorial Park.
