Arlene M. Bertie Perhach Slate – Forward Township

Arlene M. Bertie Perhach Slate, 84, of Forward Township, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at home. She retired as a driver for the National Steelworkers Oldtimers Foundation in McKeesport. She was a member of The Church in Sutersville and was a former clerk at Thompson’s Convenience Store. Born Dec. 20, 1936, in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Rose Plaster Bertie. She is survived by sons, Steve (Edna) Perhach of Elizabeth, Ron (Tammy) Perhach of Forward Township, Mike Slate of Forward Township and Edward (Glori) Slate of Monroeville; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, David Perhach, Charles Slate Jr. and Duane Perhach. Friends will be received in the PAUL E. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME, 221 N. Second Ave., Elizabeth, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2021. In order to comply with COVID-19 restrictions, guests are required to wear masks and follow CDC social distancing guidelines. You may be asked to limit your visiting time so that all guests will have an opportunity to pay their respects. The family would like to express their understanding to those who are unable to attend due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2021, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ed Slate officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Township.
