Transportation briefs

PennDOT District 12 announced single-lane restrictions in both directions of Interstate 70 between Exit 43 (Route 201 Fayette City) and Exit 46 (Route 51/I-70 Interchange) in Rostraver Township will be in place daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

During these restrictions, crews will place overhang supports on Crawford Lane bridge, post-tension Crawford Lane bridge and reset temporary barriers as needed to facilitate temporary roadway widening work.

Drivers are asked to exercise caution driving through the work zone.

This work is part of the I-70 at Arnold City Interchange project, which connects Route 3011 (Finley Road/Indian Hill Road) and Daugherty Lane to I-70. The project aims to enhance safety and traffic operations at the interchange and along the interstate.

The project area is approximately 1.75 miles long, extending from the I-70 bridge over the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad to 1.37 miles east of the Arnold City Interchange. Golden Triangle Construction Company, Inc., is the prime contractor.

The $89 million infrastructure investment will include widening the median from 4 feet to 10 feet and the outside shoulders from 10 to 12 feet. The reconstructed interchange will utilize a diamond configuration with a five-leg roundabout connecting the eastbound ramps with Indian Hill Road and Finley Road.

The westbound ramps will be rebuilt as standard diamond ramps with a non-signalized intersection. The roadway will be shifted approximately 4 feet to the north to accommodate the widening.

Drivers can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1 or by following regional X alerts.
