A McKeesport man accused of kicking and stomping another man, who had just been beaten over the head with a glass bottle and was unconscious, has been denied bail.

Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit detectives charged Darren Lee Francis, 25, of Jersey Street with felony counts of aggravated assault and conspiracy aggravated assault- attempt to cause serious bodily injury with extreme indifference.

The victim of the bar fight, 34-year-old Russell Milslagle, suffered numerous injuries as a result of the beating, including a skull fracture, traumatic brain injuries and broken facial bones, an affidavit of probable cause filed by ACPD Detective Darren Gerlach states.

McKeesport police were dispatched to Double S Saloon on the 600 block of Evans Avenue at 1:53 a.m. Dec. 20 after a bar patron called 911 and reported “someone was knocked out” inside the bar, the affidavit states.
