First-place Bishop Canevin survives late Greyhounds’ rally

Dan Bosnic doesn’t look back on Friday night’s matchup against Bishop Canevin and think about how it ended.
Instead, the second-year Monessen coach is concerned with how it began.
A 13-0 run by the Crusaders helped them build an 11-point halftime lead before the Greyhounds, who trailed by as many as 16 points in the second half, came marching back to make things interesting in the fourth quarter.
Despite the rally, Monessen fell short of inching closer to the top spot in the section, suffering a 43-40 loss to first-place Bishop Canevin in a crucial Section 2-A matchup.
“I didn’t think we did a good job in the first half of rebounding the basketball and I thought we didn’t do a good job of sprinting back, so we gave some easy ones away,” Bosnic said. “I was proud of how we responded there and put ourselves in a position to come back and win that game, but I felt like we put ourselves in a hole we couldn’t dig out of.”
