Elizabeth Forward did what it had to do to remain in the playoff hunt Monday night.
And with a little bit of help, the Warriors gained some separation near the top of the Section 3-4A standings.
EF never trailed and used an energetic second-half effort to pull away for a 51-42 victory over Ringgold and, with Belle Vernon Area’s loss to West Mifflin, move into sole possession of third place in the section standings.
“This was an important game because we need to win the games that we’ve already won,” said EF head coach Krystal Gibbs, whose team earned a season sweep of the Rams after defeating them, 37-28, on Dec. 16.
“Every time we play them, they make us play sloppy, but it’s nice to be able to hold that lead and to be able to keep going with that.”
