Theresa DiPiazza, 98, of Monessen, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, in Hallsworth House, Monessen. She was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Monessen, the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Cornelia) Ezzo. Theresa was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church and its Epiphany Ladies. Mrs. DiPiazza was an active person, having volunteered for the St. Vincent de Paul Store. She enjoyed traveling with the Civic Center group and doing ceramics. Most of all, Mrs. DiPiazza loved being with her family and would cook and bake for all of them. Surviving are her daughter, Nancy Sawyer of Whitehall; son, Jeffrey (Tamara) DiPiazza of Rostraver Township; daughter-in-law, Debra DiPiazza of Monessen; a sister, Grace “Pudgy” Ezzo of Monessen; eight grandchildren, Dennis A. (Jacqueline) DiPiazza Jr., Bryan (Kelly) DiPiazza, Lauren (Michael) Ward, Paul C. Sawyer, Robert Sawyer, Amy (Jason) Green, Sara (P.J.) Jones Jr., and Jeffrey DiPiazza; nine great-grandchildren, Alessandra, Anthony, Elena, Emma, Riley, Lucas, Gina, Addison and Ryan; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Salvatore A. “Sam” DiPiazza; a son, Dennis DiPiazza; a brother, Joseph Ezzo; and three sisters, Barney Greco, Stella Reda and Laverne Fronzaglio. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, in DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen. Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 16, beginning with an 11:30 a.m. Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at noon in Epiphany of Our Lord Church with the Rev. Michael Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen. The Epiphany Ladies will conduct a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
