Since suffering a season-opening loss to Laurel Highlands on Sept. 3, the Elizabeth Forward volleyball team hasn’t experienced a whole lot of losing.
The Warriors followed the defeat with three-set sweeps of Ringgold, Belle Vernon Area and Yough in Section 3-3A play.
They made it four victories in a row Monday night as the Warriors earned a 3-1 win over Waynesburg Central in a nonsection matchup at Elizabeth Forward High School.
EF (4-1) won the first and second sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-13 before falling in the third set, 25-17. The Warriors used a fast start in the final set to prevail, 25-22, and claim the match victory.
“I think it was a good win for us,” Elizabeth Forward coach Kameron Smith said. “(Waynesburg Central) is a solid team all around and they don’t have any blaring weaknesses. It was nice to be able to play a good, hard match. They’re a pretty skilled team, better than some of the teams in our section, so it gives us another level of competition.”
