Legends return to Legion Field

Since the construction of what is now Joe Montana Stadium on the campus of Ringgold School District, Legion Field in Donora went dark for high school football.
However, on Friday, the legendary stadium of the Donora Dragons and later Ringgold Rams will come alive again … at least for a short time on the hallowed ground.
As a prelude to the massive Ringgold, Donora, Monongahela, Mon Valley Catholic reunion this weekend, many of the stars of past teams will walk out on to the field in their game jersey one more time.
Thanks to the reunion’s creator and benefactor, Donora native Larry Price, the old facility will get one more time to shine.
Price, the CEO of Caligold Clothing and Entertainment out of California, has reproduced replica football game jerseys from the various schools and eras for those alums who adorned them in their scholastic days.
At 6 p.m. Friday, there will be a ceremonial walk from the tunnel to the field for many of those stars who wore those jerseys many years ago.
Among the former players expected to take part in the festivities are Lou “Bimbo” Cecconi, Ken Griffey Sr., Yogi Jones, Jon Greene, Malcolm Lomax and Dane Tartt, among others.
