Pat Brennan wasn’t just going to sit back and watch his high school baseball career come to an end.
Determined to see it continue, the Serra Catholic senior went 2 for 3 with a walk, run scored and three RBIs to lead the Eagles to a 9-1 win over Neshannock in a PIAA quarterfinal matchup at Shaler’s Matulevic Field Thursday.
Brennan, usually the Eagles’ leadoff hitter, batted out of the No. 3 spot against the Lancers (19-4).
“My approach has changed a little bit. I’m not taking as many pitches but with Mark (Black) in front of me, I’m looking at myself as having to be the guy to score some runs,” Brennan said. “I just focused on that.”
