When discussing the cream of the crop in Class 2A and 4A softball, the conversation includes Frazier and Yough, respectively.
Entering the playoffs as second-place finishers from their respective sections, the two teams are in prime position to make noise the postseason. Pitching is a big reason why.
Yough’s Kierra Waywood outdueled Frazier’s Logan Hartman in the Cougars’ 3-0 victory in the annual “Strike Out Cancer” game at Cougar Mountain.
Waywood was dominant in the circle for Yough (12-5), tossing a complete game two-hitter. The Cal U recruit threw 102 pitches and struck out a season-high 16. She struck out the side three times and posted two or more punchouts in six of seven innings.
