Gladys Mary Foster – Monessen

Gladys Mary Foster, 87, of Monessen, was the beloved daughter of the late James and Julia Foster. She was born on Sept. 17, 1931, in Rostraver. God called Gladys to His eternal rest on May 6, 2019. Gladys was very family oriented and is remembered as the strong-willed matriarch of her family. She always did her best to keep her family safe and grounded. She was a devoted member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where Bishop Karl Jackson is the pastor. Gladys retired with more than 30 years of service at Mon Valley Hospital. She was an active community member serving on the board of her local NAACP chapter. Gladys was preceded in death by her siblings: James “Sonny” Foster, Donald Foster, Darlene (Joe) East, Clifford Foster, Floyd Foster and sister-in-law, Crystal Foster. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Sharon Foster and Robert Foster; her siblings, William “Jackie” Foster, Helen (Leslie) Jackson, Daniel (Leah) Foster; and her long-time friend, Bill Thrash; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. The viewing will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2019, and the funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 230 Reed Ave., Monessen, with Bishop Karl Jackson officiating. Final celebration has been gently placed in the hands of HOUSE OF JACKSON MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 546 Thompson Ave., Donora, Karl Jackson, funeral director, 724-379-5420.
