Godzak throws no-hitter as Leps cruise past Tigers

Sophie Godzak tossed a no-hitter in Belle Vernon Area’s 10-0 victory over McKeesport in Section 2-4A play Monday afternoon.
Godzak struck out four and walked three en route to the first no-no of her high school career.
Mekenzie Sokol led the way offensively for the Leopards (7-12, 5-7), collecting two hits, including a double and a grand slam. Vanessa Porter added a two-hit effort while Jordan French and Abby Fabin each drove in a pair of runs. Ashley Joll and Godzak also added an RBI apiece.
Emily Minnicks suffered the loss for the Tigers (2-9, 2-9), allowing eight earned runs on eight hits. She struck out six.
