Charleroi wallops rival Monessen

If you ask Monessen head coach Bill Matush, it seemed like only one team wanted to be on the field at Memorial Stadium Tuesday.
And it wasn’t the Greyhounds.
Charleroi took it to their cross-river rivals, pounding out 15 hits and taking advantage of nine Greyhound errors as they cruised to a 16-4 win in non-section play.
“It was really as if no one wanted to be here,” Matush said dejectedly. “We were coming off a big win yesterday and no one wanted to play this game. But that’s how you get better. You play up in competition. All our teams here in Monessen do it. That’s what we do.”
